Many people questioned the wisdom of their decision, but the Gürtl family wanted to stay in the town, and they had no other choice. They simply had to have the extra living space.

With the move came new neighbors, of course, and the gratifying feeling of finally having their own home. And right there in that home stood the cradle of daughter Renate.

The years past, the children grew up and Mr. Gürtl retired. Which is when the idea was born, "We're going to remodel into a guesthouse!!"

This occurred in 1964.
